Obituary for Gary Wayne Odie

April 18, 1965 – October 13, 2022

Gary W. Odie, 56, of Waco, Texas passed away on October 13, 2022, at Community Hospice Care, surrounded by his loved ones. Services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the OakCrest Funeral Home 4520 Bosque Blvd, Waco, Texas. Rev. Timothy Ray Domon Pastor of God’s House of Prayer in Mart, Texas will be doing the eulogy. Officiation burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Mart, Texas.

Gary was born April 8, 1965, in Waco, Texas to parents, Willie Claude Odie, Jr., and Ruby Jean Prichett. He graduated from Gary Job Corp in McKinney, Texas with a high school diploma and a trade in mechanics. He later went to work at Baylor University as a Janitor for six years. After leaving Baylor, Gary moved to Sherman, Texas and became supervisor of the production line at Tyson Chicken in Sherman, Texas for 5 years. After Living in Sherman, Texas for 5 years Gary returned to Waco, Texas where he remained until his death. Anyone who knew Gary knew he was a man that liked to joke around and make wise cracks. When you meet him, he always had a smile on his face. Everyone who knew him loved him. His main motto was (anything without a limit is no good).

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; aunt; and uncle.

His survivors include Sandra McGowan and Joe, WF, TX, Donna Jackson and Mike Hattiesburg, MS, James Green Hattiesburg, MS, Charles and Kim Green Austin, TX, Tamara Fields and Boys Waco, TX, Mike and Danielle Green Hattiesburg, MS, Marita Snell Converse, TX, Willie Claude Odie 3 and Ruby WF, TX; one daughter, Kesha Odie, California; brothers and sisters, Tronda and Terry slack, Lexington, Kentucky, Carla Hall Waco, TX.

Pallbearers will be James Green, Charles Green, Craig White, Mike Green, Willie Odie 3, John Stewart, Jr., Edward Mcgowan, Jr.

The Odie family would like to extend a warm hand of thanks for the excellent care that they gave our loved one. While residing in their facility.
