Obituary for Floyd E. Eugene Hendrix




Floyd Eugene Hendrix was welcomed into his eternal rest on October 27, 2022. .

Floyd was born on September 11, 1932, to Lewis Rogers Hendrix and Emily Jo (Reeves) Hendrix as one of ten children in the Hendrix home. As a child of the Great Depression, he learned the work ethic required of life on the farm that would carry him forward through his childhood of World War II and into his adult life.

Floyd was a Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War and the Naval Reserve afterward.

In 1951, he married Dorothy Jean Smith, and they had three children, Ricky, Ron and Terri. In 1981, He married Ann M. Bradley, and his family grew with her four children from a previous marriage. Floyd and Ann lived in Fort Worth before moving to the Waco area and later to the Stoney Brook community in Hewitt. After Ann’s passing in January of 2021, Floyd has resided at the Wm. R. Courtney Veterans Home in Temple, Texas.

Floyd was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, and his wife Ann M. Hendrix.

He is survived by his children, Ricky T. Hendrix (Bonnie), Ronald E. Hendrix, Terri Lynn Duty (Rick) and his stepchildren, Beverly Sterling (Austin), Thomas Keith Bradley, Jr. (Paula), Katherine Lynn Brannan (Paul) and William (Bill) Bradley (Stacie). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service with military honors at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the Moore Cemetery in Chalk Bluff.

Honorary pallbearers are his close friend, George Smith and Floyd’s grandsons: John Hendrix, Seth Duty, Shea Duty, Michael Sterling, Geoffrey Sterling, Thomas Keith Bradley III, Ryan Bradley, Nicholas Brannan and Jake Bradley.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations/memorials be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or to your local Veterans’ organization.
