Edith Millender Lee, age 92, of Waco, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in Waco, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 on Friday, January 17, at OakCrest Funeral Home in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 18, at 1 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home with burial in Mooreville Cemetery.

Edith was born on March 1, 1927 in Temple, Texas. She grew up in the beautiful community of Mooreville, Texas, and served as a nurse for Dr. Ross Shipp and in the Emergency Room at Hillcrest Hospital. She later became an occupational nurse for M & M Mars, being one of the first employees at the new facility in Hewitt, Texas in 1976.

Edith loved to cook, read, and spend time with her “favorite” granddaughter and family. Affectionately known as “Tiny”, she had a kind and loving heart and a resilient spirit. She was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon Eldridge Millender, and Amy Nix; sister, Patsy Joy Light; son, Jerry Mark Lee; and daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Yett Lee.

Edith is survived by her beloved granddaughter, Laura Lee Slack and husband, Joel of McGregor; sister, Peggy Sue West, of Little Rock, Arkansas; nieces, Sherrill Lynn Johnson and husband, Bill of College Station, Texas, and Lisa Charette and husband, Mark of Little Rock, Arkansas; and many grand-nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Edith's preferred charity organization, The Salvation Army.

To Edith's Family. I an so sorry to just now see of Edith's passing!! She was already hired as the only Nurse that we had at the Plant, when I started to work there on March 22, 1976!! She did most of the physicals in the beginning, but we had a Doctor that came to the Plant to do the biggest part of the physicals!! And she was the only Nurse that we had, for some time, until we started Production about six months later!! Then they hired a Nurse for each Shift!! But we still had our wonderful Nurse Edith Lee on Day Shift to give us our yearly hearing tests, plus some other tests that were required!! I am very sorry to see/read of her passing!! She was special to all of us for many years!! i lost contact with her, and was not sure where she got of to!! She was a wonderful, cheerful lady, and always a best friend to just about everybody in the Plant!! She has been, and will continue to be missed by many!! Thoughts/Condolences/Prayers to 'each' of you, the Family!! Please let us continue to remember all of the good/fun times that we have had with Edith!! GOD bless 'each' of you!! Rest In Peace Edith!! We will join you again some day, in Heaven!! Please save us a place!! GOD received a Special Angel when he called Edith Lee home!! Again,, GOD bless 'each' one of you!! Ronny Bredemeyer, Master Maintenance Mechanic from March 22, 1976, until June 1, 2001) 25 years retired!!

Edith was a dear, lovely and caring person. She loved her family and I enjoy using and sharing some of her great recipes. A terrific nurse!
