Obituary for Edith Lanell Price

Edith Lanell, as so many loved ones, teachers and fellow-workers called her, was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on January 17, 1940. She entered the gates of heaven on August 27, 2022. A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, September 1st , 2022 at Oakwood Cemetery in
Waco, Texas.

Her early life, until age 15, was noteworthy because of her having been forced into living in the Odd Fellows Orphanage in Montague, Texas from age 4 until age 15. She attended and graduated from Waco High School in 1958. And for the next 4-5 years she worked mostly as a key punch operator for big businesses and large banks in Waco, Houston and Dallas. In 1960, she gave birth to Pat, her precious son. And by 1963, she had been hired by Exxon-Mobil in Dallas to begin organizing and documenting the oil and it’s by-products that was being produced by this giant firm the world over. It was a remarkable feat that she was able to so completely and accurately organize, hire, train and guide this most vital information through this firm for the next 35 years. After her retirement, she began a rich and extremely talented post-business career as an award-winning quilter and stained-glass maker. There was no hand artistry of any kind that she could not excel in doing. Her work is priceless.

She is survived by her most devoted and in-love husband, Harvey L. Price; son, Pat Holland and wife, Jackie; grandchildren, Stephanie Wilson and husband, Clay, Clifton Holland and wife, Sara; great- grandchildren, Cassidy Wilson, Pavyn Holland and Parker Holland; step-son, Daniel Lazarus.

Lanell remained throughout her busy and very productive life and much loved, extremely talented and highly skilled mother, worker and wife. She will be loved by all until the end of time.
