Obituary for Donald Rose

Donald Frederick Rose, age 82, of Waco passed peacefully on October 25 th , 2022 in the presence of
family and friends at the end of a rich and blessed life.

Don was born in Waco on May 21, 1940, to Adolf Frederick Rose and Lela “Honey” Pauline Rose. After
the untimely death of his father in 1944, he and his older brother, Farrell Rose, were raised by Honey
with lots of love from doting aunt, Lydia Rose, and other family and friends. Don received his Bachelor
of Architecture from Rice University in 1963 and practiced architecture in Waco for many years, first
with Dudley and Associates and thereafter with Raso, Bailey, Dudley and Rose until his retirement in

Don enjoyed traveling with his children, including camping in Big Bend and Colorado. After his marriage
to Dianna, his travels expanded to include his step children on trips and cruises to Europe, Alaska and
the Caribbean. Any place with interesting architecture spoke to him and he especially loved Italy.
He loved playing piano and for many years did so regularly at the Regis Retirement Center, much to the
delight of the residents who looked forward to his lunchtime visits. He also loved tennis and continued
to play with his friends into his seventies.

He belonged to Lake Shore Baptist Church in Waco for 50 years, where he served as a deacon and choir
member. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend and will be greatly missed.

Don is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dianna Vitanza; his children, Lloyd (Mark) Rose and Jamie Rose;
his stepchildren, Paul (Amy) Vitanza, David (Glynis) Vitanza; his step-grandchildren, Josie, Ronan, Liezel
and Dianna; nieces, Lisa (Vince) Justice and Melanie (Darwin) Sharbono; and their children Stephanie
