Clayton E. Howard, 69, of Hewitt, passed away on August 16, 2022 in the hospital surrounded by his
family.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 22 at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, TX 76710. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 23 at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, TX 76710, with Bro. Jamie Howard of Grace Community Assembly of God in Flower Mound and Bro. Jeff Stinson of Church of the Redeemed in Waco. Graveside service will follow in Waco Memorial Park.

Clayton was born April 25, 1953 in Waco to Maurice and Maggie Mae Howard. He grew up in Gholson. He attended West High School. After high school, he had many jobs before deciding to become an automotive and diesel mechanic. He opened One Way Automotive and Diesel Service in Lorena in 1990. He worked with his son, Boyd, since 1996 there. He had a good work ethic and worked hard his entire life to provide for his family. In addition, he drove a school bus for Lorena ISD for 15 years. He drove a big bus and a special needs bus. He really enjoyed all the students, but special need students held a special place in his heart. He was also an ordained deacon in 1986.

In July of 1972 he married the love of his life, Frances Stone of Waco. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He was a good man who loved the Lord. He enjoyed camping and fishing at the lake, and watching the Dallas Cowboys, Baylor Bears, and the Texas A&M Aggies. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Clayton was a loving husband, dad, pepaw, great pepaw, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Maggie Mae Howard, his grandparents, Fred and Ann Howard, John and Ruby Mears, and his brother, James Howard.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Frances, daughter, Emily (Mike) Orem, son Clayton Dwayne (Amanda) Howard, son, Boyd (Laura) Howard, grandchildren, Eric (Courtney), Ryan (Kendell), Larkin, great grandchildren, Sidney, Kenzie, Blake, Bentley, brothers, Lawson (Mileen) Howard, Ben Howard, sister-in-law, Bobbie Jean Howard, aunt, Irene Mears, many brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, and his best friend and brother by choice Charlie (Karen) Burch. He is also survived by his four legged companion of 14 years, Snuggles.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Grim, Chad Homeyer, Brian Edmond, John Henry, Scott Klecka, Steve Meadows,
Jarrod Richard, Conner Stinson, Alex Gallegos, Ed Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy Stinson, Mike Hollister, Rick Safadi, Eric Orem and Ryan Orem.

The family would like to thank everyone for your attendance today, for your calls, food, and visits, for
your thoughtfulness, and most of all for your prayers. We know Clayton is free from pain now and completely healed. He is in Heaven and our desire is you will be there too.
