Obituary for Charles M. Manuel Gonzales

Charles M. Gonzales
July 23, 1942 – April 20, 2021

Charles M. Gonzales passed away at his residence on April 20, 2021. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. Monday, April 26, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.

Charles was born July 23, 1942 in Waco, to Miguel (Mike) and Natalie (Hernandez) Gonzales. Charles was one of a kind, not a better friend in the world. Most people called him Charlie, some called him Tuna in his younger days.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 – 1961 stationed in Germany. When he returned he met and married Josie Lopez. They welcomed one son, Eddy Gonzales. Charlie attended and graduated from T.S.T.C. Meat Cutting School in 1972 and moved to Dallas where he lived until he retired. In 1982, he married Amelia (Amy) Careaga. She had a little boy, Oscar, whom Charlie loved dearly. Amy passed away in 2005 leaving a giant hole in his heart.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Amy.

He is survived by his sons, Eddy and Oscar; grandchildren, Austin Gonzales and Autumn Rayne Gonzales of Rowlett, and Andrew Careaga, Natalia Careaga, and Diego Careaga, all of Irving; aunts, Theresa Garcia and Lupe Fajardo of Waco; and his two four-legged companions, Paco and Bebe, and two faithful running buddies of over 50 years, Barry Todar and Terry McKinney, and numerous cousins, too many to name!
