Obituary for Billy Ray Anderson

Billy Ray Anderson, 89, of Lorena, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. Graveside services will be Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Jim Daniels officiating, at Richland Cemetery, 485 CR 3418, Mertens, Texas 76666.

Mr. Anderson was born on October 2, 1932, in Emmitt, Texas to William F. and Sara Ethel (Carroll) Anderson. He grew up and attended schools in the Emmitt community. While attending school Billy Ray met a very pretty young girl named Jackie. He served in the U. S. Army, and upon his return, he married the love of his life, Jackie Lynn Malone and they became sweethearts. They were married on September 5, 1953, in Durant, Oklahoma, a honeymoon lasting 68 years. He worked for Texas Power & Light Company for 31 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a devoted member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Robinson, Texas. Mr. Anderson loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and attending his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren’s activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his loving wife, Jackie; daughters, Darla Gail Oliver an husband Robert, and Donna Lynn Zettler and husband Lamar; grandchildren, Eric Lux and wife DeAnna, Lindsey Geddie and husband Justin, Lauren Moorhead and husband Chad, Kaitlyn Ward and husband Evan, and Austin Oliver and wife Cheyenne; many great-grandchildren and sisters, Mary Ann Weatherby, and Peggy Dollins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
