Obituary for Betty Ross Crook

Betty Ross Crook

Betty Ross Crook was born on August 16, 1927, in Natchitoches, LA. The world lost a brilliant light on February 28, 2022, when Betty was welcome into eternity by her Heavenly Father. Betty’s parents John H. Ross and Edna Allison “Allie” Wallette knew their daughter was inquisitive and spiritual from an early age. Before considering moving from their farm, her father searched for the best library and Catholic Church.

Betty was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church for 56 years and served on their financial board and other committees for years.

Betty graduated from Georgetown University School of Law in 1955 and was a practicing attorney for 66 years. She had a long, successful career at Baylor University as a land attorney. She generously gave her time and talent to those who needed her professional advice.

In 1988, Betty became a vital member of the Central Texas Genealogical Society and contributed her research talent each Saturday scouring microfilm at West Waco Library’s Genealogy Center. She authored articles and eight resource books for the society. Betty also served on the board in multiple capacities and most recently as their secretary. She also served on the Waco McLennan County Library Commission.

Husband J.p. “Jack” Alton Crook and parents preceded her in death.
