Obituary for Arthur L. Lucas

Memorial service for Arthur Lowell Lucas Jr., who passed away November 4, 2020, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Hewitt Community Church, 212 Kiowa Trail.

Arthur was born February 1. 1943 in Huntington, West Virginia to Arthur Lowell Lucas and Betty Louise Midkiff. Arthur had three siblings: a brother, Thomas Earl Lucas, and two sisters, Patricia Ann and Linda Lucas. Arthur also had two half-sisters, Ruthie Faye and Lena May Lucas.
Arthur attended Huntington East High, and excelled in electric shop, wood shop, and mathematics. He graduated in 1961. Arthur was a jack of all trades and worked many jobs throughout his lifetime. Most noticeably, he worked as a welder's assistant on the Lake Waco Dam; as a truck driver and later a butcher for H&B Packing; and an aircraft electrician for General Dynamics Corp. Eventually, he owned his own meat market, Thrifty Meats

Arthur enjoyed fishing and bowling and could often be found playing golf. In the summer of 1960 he met his wife, Claudia Conger and on September 26, 1963 they were married and moved to Waco. He fathered two sons, Ronald Lucas, and Rodney Lucas, and was grandfather to Sarah and Samuel Lucas. Arthur and Claudia split amicably.

On August 21, 2010 Arthur married his forever wife, Judith Lucas. The two lived together happily until Judith passed away May 21, 2014.
