Obituary for Ann Weston Newman

Ann Weston Lipscombe Newman, 87 years passed away peaceably in her sleep on May 23, 2022 after being in Hilcrest Hospital for the preceding two weeks with her family surrounding her. Ann will be cremated by Oakcrest Funeral Home followed by a Memorial Service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022 in the chapel of OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, TX 76710 254-772-5272

Ann was born in Wharton, Texas on April 1, 1935 to parents Sewell Weston and Mabel Ann Lipscombe. She attended Highland Park High School and graduated in 1953. After Highschool, Ann attended Columbia (Christian) College. Ann had three younger siblings, Roy Lipscombe, Ken Davis Lipscombe and Toni Kay Lipscombe and is survived today by only Ken Davis Lipscombe and wife Susan Lipscombe.

Ann was originally married (and later divorced) to George Martin Newman, Sr. (deceased) and is survived by her five children, Mark Edward Newman (and wife, Robin Newman), John Weston Newman (and wife, Deborah Dean Newman), George Martin Newman, Jr. (and wife, Stephanie Newman), Libby Newman, and Stewart Davis Newman (and wife, Cindy Lay). Ann was later married (and divorced) to Arthur Acker (deceased). Ann is survived by nine grandchildren who are Michael Edward Newman and Samuel Scott Newman, Benjamin Joseph Newman (wife, Elisabeth Newman), Matthew Jacob Newman (wife, Ashley Newman) and John Patrick Newman, Joseph Edward Newman (wife, Laura Newman) and Jennifer Newman Leger (husband, Ryan Leger), Amanda Newman and Brandon Newman (wife, Brianna Newman), and five great grandchildren, great granddaughter Zoƫ Newman, great grandsons Ryder Newman, Jacob Newman, Braydon Newman and Lincoln Newman, step great granddaughters Hanna Newman and Emma Davina Kranes.

Ann married George Martin Newman, Sr. in 1955, lived in Waco, Texas for many years and was a member of the Junior League. Ann was a wonderful mother to her family and kids and spent her later years doing volunteer work for Friends For Life and then later for the Peace Corp. in Poland.
