Obituary for Ann Mary Ott Bradley Hendrix

Ann Hendrix was welcomed into the presence of the Lord on January 19, 2021, surrounded with love and prayer by her family. She fought bravely to regain her strength from a fall in August of 2020 and from post-surgical complications, but the Lord needed another angel in Heaven therefore He lifted our beloved Mother and “Grandma” from this Earth to her heavenly home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan, 26, at St. Louis Catholic Church with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. The rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. prior to the mass. The mass will be livestreamed on the OakCrest Funeral Home Facebook page starting at 9:30 a.m. Social distancing and facial covering are required.

Visitation with her family will be 5 - 7 p.m. Monday, January 25, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, Tx.

Ann Mary, as she was known in her youth, was born June 9, 1933, in Cuero, Texas, to William J. and Annie Ott. After high school, she attended business college and along the way, met and married a handsome young accountant, Thomas K. Bradley in 1955. Ann Mary and Tom settled in San Antonio for many years, bringing four young Bradleys into the family: Beverly, Thomas K. Jr. (Keith), Kathryn and William (Bill).

As Ann would tell you today, the Lord never gives us more burden than we can carry, and we do not know the future path on which He has set our feet. A major change was in store for the family as Tom developed cancer and the family moved to Waco in 1968. Ann was steadfast in caring for Tom and raising the children. Tom, indeed, fought the good fight but succumbed to cancer in 1970. To say that Ann met hardship with grace and dignity is an understatement. With her own work ethic and the love and support from other family members, all the children were raised in a loving Catholic home that led each of them to higher education and professional careers.

In 1981, she married Floyd Hendrix of Ft. Worth, Texas. She and Floyd lived to Ft. Worth for several years before returning to Waco to care for her mother, Mrs. Annie Ott. Several years later, she and Floyd bought a small farm in Hallsburg where they raised cattle and entertained grandchildren with go carts and fishing and a tractor ride occasionally. In her later years, they moved into Waco again and she resided at the Stoney Brook Retirement Center at the time of her passing.

Hopefully, each of us in this life is blessed with the opportunity to meet a real hero. To her children, her extended family and to her friends, she was, indeed, a heroic and God given blessing to all of us.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, William (Bill) Ott of Austin, Bernard Ott, Sr. of Waco, and her husband and father to her children, Thomas Keith Bradley, Sr.

She is survived by her daughters Beverly Sterling (Austin) and Kathy Brannan (Paul), her sons Thomas K. (Keith) Bradley, Jr. (Paula), and William (Bill) Bradley (Stacie), sixteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her husband Floyd Hendrix and his children, Terri Duty (Rick), Rick Hendrix (Bonnie) and Ron Hendrix.

In Ann’s great heart, there was a special place for lost or abandoned animals. From the little mixed terrier “Lucky” that they found wet and wandering the street in Waco to the abandoned “Brownie” at the Hallsburg farm, and of course “Little Girl” that she adopted, Ann cared for all of God’s creatures. Therefore, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the animal rescue group, Fuzzy Friends, 6321 Airport Rd, Waco, 76708 (254-754-9444).

II Timothy 4:7-10
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
