Condolences

Condolence From: Rich Stringer
Condolence: I was was saddened today to hear the news of Coach Coffee’s passing. Had I known when it happened I would have been there to pay my respects. I grew up in Carrollton Tx with Paul Carmon. I played baseball for and against Coach Coffee from age 10 to 15. I considered Coach Coffee to be one of the greatest baseball minds I ever knew. He pushed me and believed in me and he consistently won games based on his offense mindset. Coach continued to believe in me and supported me through high school and into college. His son Paul Carmon is the greatest catcher I ever played with and has proven to be the coach we all knew he would be. That is a direct reflection of what Coach Coffee taught him. I am a better man having known Coach Coffee. My condolences to his family. Rest In Peace Coach.

Condolence: I can't believe this. When I came to West High School from the big city of Houston in 1955, Cecil was the greatest football quarterback then. He was so very friendly and always had a smile for us newcomers. I am so sorry that I haven't attended all the reunions since I moved so far away. May peace come to the Coffee house and may Jesus wrap his arms around Cecil's wife and family.

Condolence: Cecil was such a dominate football player for the West High School Trojans. It was a pleasure to watch him direct the team. We invited Cecil to our class ['56] reunions and he invited us to his class ['57] reunion. He had so many interesting stories to tell and enjoyed visiting with his fellow teammates. We have lost so many of them already but I can imagine they are all holding a huddle in Heaven discussing their next trick play. Steve, Class of '56

Condolence: Cecil’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5:28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope. jw.org/finder?pub=w14&issue=20140101&wtlocale=E&srcid=share

Condolence: Cecil was a junior when I was a senior at west high but we all considered him a member of our class too.For someone with so much talent he was always modest about it.He and Charles Odel would hang out with me a lot. When my father passed away he came to the funeral and it was great to see him and talk about the old times.I consider myself so fortunate to have spent time with him and consider him my friend.

Condolence: To me, the legendary Cecil Coffee was the greatest football player in West High school history. The offense was a direct snap to Cecil and the offense was called Cecil Coffee left and Cecil Coffee right. Although several years older, he would pick me up in Bellm32 322ead to play basketball in the Robinson gym and we would be the only white guys playing. Not only was he a great athlete but he was a great person. He will be sorely missed by all. Billy Joe Losak

Condolence: I find it very hard to compose this condolence. Cecil was one of my oldest and best friends. We attended school together from the 2nd grade through the 12th grade. Cecil was the most talented athlete I ever knew. Though we did not keep in touch, it was always a pleasure when we did. He had a great memory and it was a joy to hear him recite the games we played together. I will miss him very much. May God be with his family. My prayers are with you.
