Obituary for Lucille Monica Foley

Lucille Monica Foley

Lucille Monica (Rouleau) Foley passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of November 26, 2017 at Providence Hospice Place. Lucille was born in Pincher Creek, Alberta, in 1935, the seventh of nine children. In the 1950s she immigrated to California and met James Foley, whom she married in 1960. From 1975 to 1992

Lucille was the secretary at Our Lady of Lourdes elementary school in Montclair, California, where her quick smile and affirming comments brought joy to thousands of students over the years. In 2004 Jim and Lu moved to Waco to be closer to their son and his family. In 2009, Lucille became a widow when her husband was killed in a car accident.

Lu was famous among her friends and family for her sweet smile, loving kindness, easy laughter, and steadfastness in prayer. She was gracious, gentle, practical, and a friend to many in their suffering. She was also a great lover of animals, mostly between two slices of bread. Lu is survived by her son, Michael Foley and his wife, Alexandra; grandchildren, Catherine, Mary, James, Peter, Monica, and John; and brothers, Ed and Claude.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, at St. Peter Catholic Student Center, followed by a potluck Irish wake.

On Wednesday, November 29, at St. Louis Catholic Church, there will be a visitation with the family at 1:30 p.m. and a traditional Requiem High Mass at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Masses can be offered for the repose of Lucille’s soul or for the sanctification of her friends and relations. Donations can be made to the St. Peter Catholic Student Center, 1415 S. 9th Street, Waco, TX 76706 or Pro Life Waco, PO Box 7771, Waco, TX 76714.
