Obituary for Sandra Viana (Crain)

Sandra (Sandy) Lee Crain Viana was born January 11, 1941, in Skiatook, Oklahoma. She joined the church triumphant Saturday July 29, 2017. Sandy loved basketball and played for Skiatook High School. Following graduation she attended secretarial school in Tulsa. Sandy worked for American Airlines in Tulsa where she met Carl Viana. Carl and Sandy were married on January 6, 1961.

Together, they lived all around the U.S., while Carl worked at Cape Canaveral, in Brazil, and then back in Tulsa before he graduated from University of Tulsa in 1967.

Their son, Darrell, was born in Melbourne, Florida, and the oldest daughter, Carla, in Norman, Oklahoma. The family then moved to Garland, Texas, where the youngest daughter, Cathy, was born and all 3 kids attended school.

Sandy was very active in church – always – but especially in Garland at Calvary Baptist. She was a beloved member of the staff and 2-year-old teacher @ CBC Preschool for many years.

Carl retired from Texas Instruments after 20 years. Carl, Sandy and Cathy then moved to Hewitt where Sandy worked for Texas Farm Bureau and were very active in First Baptist Hewitt. Following Carl's death Sandy moved to Alvord, Texas and participated in the lives of her grandchildren, and the children's department at First Baptist Alvord.

Carl and Sandy had seven grandchildren, who were the joy of their lives. Sandy loved the Lord, and her family. Even in her last weeks of life you could hear her humming and singing her favorites hymns--In the Garden, Old Rugged Cross, and Ill Fly Away.

Sandy was preceded in death by the love of her life, Carl Harvey Viana, her father and mother, C Lee and LaRue Crain of Skiatook, Oklahoma, her precious sister Judith (Judy) Neil of Skiatook.

She is survived by: her son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Terri Viana of Garland, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, James and Carla Post of Palacios, Texas, and her daughter and son-in-law, Ken and Cathy Hering of Alvord Texas; and her seven grandchildren, Monica Christine Viana Cardenas and Husband Raymond of Lewisville, Joshua Carl and Lauren Elyce Post of Palacios, and Cooper Alan, Carson Lee, Camdyn Elizabeth and Kayden Grace of Alvord, and 2 great grand children Elijah and Easton Cardenas of Lewisville, her brothers Jerry and Gene and their wives and families, her brother in law Wade Neil and his son and daughter and family.
