Obituary for Martha Elizabeth Baker

Martha Elizabeth Baker
February 25, 1928 – June 27, 2017

Martha Elizabeth (Sis) Baker, 89, of San Antonio, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon Friday, June 30, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 am - 12 noon at the church prior to the service.

Elizabeth was born February 25, 1928 in Waco to Ralph and Mattie Anderson. She was married August 18, 1951 to John Ambrose Baker in Fort Worth. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Arlington. She was active in several organizations including Altrusa International, American Association of University Women, Tarrant County Meals on Wheels, First Call for Help, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and League of Women Voters. She also served as a Sunday School Teacher at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and was Emeritus Director of Ghana Initiative for Valued Education (GIVE).

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Bill Anderson; and sister, Sammie Klein.

She is survived by her three sons, Bob and Laurie Baker of San Antonio, Bill and Lily Li Baker of American Canyon, CA., and Joe Baker of San Francisco; chosen son, Craig Powell of Arlington; granddaughter, Lacey and Clifton Kuhn and a soon to be great-granddaughter; and a grandson, Logan and Jess Baker.

The family gives special thanks to the staff of Independence Hill in San Antonio.
