Ira Wilson Green
February 2, 1935 – April 2, 2017


Ira Wilson Green, 82, of Waco, Texas lived inspired while on earth. He entertained and enjoyed fulfilling family and friends with jokes and stories. He passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017. A service with military rites will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2017 at the Mausoleum Chapel in Waco Memorial Park, 7537 South Interstate Hwy 35, Waco, TX 76706.

Mr. Green was born Feb 2, 1935 in Baywood, VA to Click A. Green and Lucy Galyean Green of Baywood. He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War for three tours and honorable retired as Sergeant First Class (E-7) with twenty-one years and five months of service. Ira extremely enjoyed working with his hands as he made a career working on helicopters and satellite communication equipment. Ira was most proud of this Senior Aircraft Crewman Badge and two US Army Commendation medals. He loved touring the world and sharing those experiences with family, friends or a stranger he never met.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Click and Lucy; his wife Nan Moore Green and son George L. Green of Texas; brother and sister-in-law Harry L. Green and Maxine Melton Green; sisters Glenna Jane, Neva Alice, Irma Green Spencer, Velma Naomi Green, Nettie Lois Green, and Glenna Jane Green of Baywood.

Ira is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Ella Green Belitza and Jim Belitza of Carney’s Point, NJ; brothers and sisters-in-law, Noe A. Green and Rowena Diamond Green, Woodlawn, VA; John W. Green and Nancy Jennings Green of Fairview, VA; Mr. Green had numerous nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces scattered across the United States. Ira had a special friend Mary Nell Ramsey of Texas and an extraordinary care-taker friend Paula Short of Waco, Texas.
