Obituary for Allen Thomas

William Allen Thomas was born on July 30, 1955, in Waco, Texas to William H. Thomas and Bettye (Vickers) Thomas.

He was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church, and his love of God helped him through many things. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1974. He volunteered at the Waco Fair and Rodeo for 35 years. He was a member of the Imperial Court of Texas Central Empire, and was an Imperial Son for Life. This group helps with money, food and medication for the gay community.

At ten years old he started playing Putt-Putt golf and was a member of APA and PPA. He participated in many tournaments. On his last one he even carried his oxygen because he wanted to play so much.
A member of several different bowling leagues, Allen once scored a perfect score of 300, and he proudly received a ring and a big clock with a diamond in it.

Allen was a Democrat and volunteered for over 30 years faithfully at the headquarters. He drove Bettye Denton around the state to campaign. Mary Duty said Allen was a permanent fixture of the headquarters, always being someone you could count on. A loyal Baylor Bears fan, he attended football games as well as the men and Lady Bears basketball games. The women just brought him a poster with their names on it. He was a member of the Baylor Bear Foundation. At home he would shake the walls watching a Baylor game on television. Also he loved NASCAR racing, with Dale Jr. as his favorite driver.

His beloved father, WH Thomas, preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 1996.

Survivors include his mother, Bettye Thomas; his sister, Donna Gutierrez; nieces, Becky Fikes and Aimee Munn and her husband, Chip; nephew, John Fikes; and great nephew, Clark Munn. Allen had many, many friends and cousins. He will be missed by all.
