Doris Jean Thrasher, 87, of Waco, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017. Graveside services are at 2:30 pm, Tuesday, February 7 at the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with brother Harley Gordon and Brother Reggie Blake officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30, prior to the service at the mausoleum chapel.

Doris was born on September 1, 1929 in West, Texas to Howard Washington and Viola C. (May) Adair. She married the love of her life, Rufus Thrasher, on July 20, 1946 in Elm Mott. Doris was a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church, where Rufus served as a Deacon. Doris devoted her life to her family, making sure her husband and children were well cared for.

She was preceded in death by her beloved Rufus in 2004. Doris is survived by her daughters, Lana Gibson and husband, Neill of Waco, Nikkie Stratton and husband, Ron of China Spring, and Mitzi Hoover and husband, Tom of Sachse; grandchildren, Leah Aguilar, Trisha Lapierre, Lacie Alford, Alisa Walpole, T.J. Hoover, Brandon Hoover, and Jake Stratton; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, James Adair and wife, Betty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris loved the Lord and was a devout Christian. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She touched the lives of many people.
