Obituary for Wanda Pilant

Wanda Marie (Samuelson) Pilant, 84, of Robinson, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 1, 2016, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, at OakCrest Funeral Home with Brother Mike Chance and Brother David Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home.

Wanda was born April 9, 1932 in Cranfills Gap to Selmer Edwin Samuelson and Elsie Amanda (Hastings) Samuelson. She grew up in the Clifton and Cransfill Gap area of Bosque County and attended are schools. Wanda met and married her husband, Freddie Murrell Pilant, on October 9, 1948in Clifton. Together they lived in Clifton until 1979 when they relocated to Waco to be closer to children and grandchildren. Wanda had several occupations throughout the years but the one she held most dear was caring for her grandchildren while the parents worked.

Wanda attended what she fondly referred to as First Church (formerly First Presbyterian Church, not Christian Life Church) for many years beginning with her relocation to Waco. Most recently she was attending Peace Church although her failing health did not allow her to attend nearly as often as she would have liked. She was a great Christian example to her family and will be lovingly remembered by all. Wanda will be most remembered as one who always put the needs of others ahead of her own, and was a great support and advocate of her family. She was truly a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mildred and Aileen, and grandson, Nathan Lee Pilant.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Freddie M. Pilany; her daughter, Sandra Warren and husband, Billy; son, Terry Pilant and wife, Wanda Sue and Randy Pilant and wife, Carol; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Frances Seljos.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandson, Keith Warren, Mark Pilant, Jason Pilant, Gary Pilant, Greg Pilant, and Luke Pilant.
