Obituary for H. B. Jay

H. B. Jay, 92, of Speegleville passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016 after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 10:30 at China Spring Cemetery, the Rev. Joe Bailey officiating. Visitation with family will be Tuesday, Nov. 15 from 5-7 pm at Oakcrest Funeral Home.
Mr. Jay was born to H.O. and Linnie Breedlove Jay June 17, 1924 at the family farm in China Spring. In 1955 he married the love of his life, JoAnn Harcrow. Mr. Jay worked for K-Mart as the patio manager until his retirement in 1989. After retiring, H.B. and JoAnn along with some friends formed a band called The Antique Pickers, a group of musicians who spent hours jamming with one another and playing for the residents of local nursing homes. Mr. Jay was an avid reader and a self-taught musician, learning to play more than five instruments.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Joann Harcrow Jay, a daughter, Beverly Ann Cook, and grandson Michael Cook.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna Yglecias of Speegleville, Carla Hines and her husband John of Crawford,Sue Rich of Ft. Worth and Rita Gaddis of Dallas; two sons, Ricky Jay and wife Vicky of Cleburne and Ty Jay and partner, Traci, of Laguna Park; his brother, Wayne Jay and wife Barbara of Robinson; son in law, Mike Cook of Waco; sister-in-law, Mary Cotharn; grandchildren, Tammy Johnson Barrack, Joey A. Yglecias, Ashley Cook, Macy Yglecias, Lisa Willingham and Clinton Kuykendall; and 9 great grandchildren; and longtime family friends, L.B. and Willie Dean Moore.
The family wishes to thank Interim Hospice, especially Katie and Shayla, for the loving care they provided our Dad this year; and to Misty, Sara, Virginia, Shirley, Cynthia, Gabe, David and from Westview Manor who watched over Daddy when we could not be there.
