Message to the Family: Maybelle was my FAA Designated Examiner for my private pilot check ride back in May 1990 at David Wayne Hooks (DWH) airport. There was always something that you could learn from Maybelle, even in the oral portion of the exam (I learned that you need to lean the engine for takeoff at high-density airports). I was concerned whether I had passed the check ride, as some of my landings weren't the smoothest, but in the end, Maybelle said I passed! Please accept my condolences to everyone in the Fletcher family.
