Obituary for Bobby Joe Horten Sr.

Bobby Joe Horten Sr, 57, of Waco, passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife Sally Horten and surrounded by family at his residence on October 17th after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held on Saturday October 22 at 10 AM at Oakcrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd, Waco with Apostle Pat Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation and celebration of his life will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday October 21st at Oakcrest Funeral Home.

Bobby was born on Feburary 22, 1959 in San Antonio Texas. He was raised in Riesel, TX and graduated from Marlin High School. In 1978, he met the love of his life, Sally, while managing a convenience store. The “Newlyweds” married on November 25th, 1978 and would be celebrating 38 wonderful years of marriage next month. He was a devoted husband, father, popo and provider. He had an eccentric talent for auto mechanics, welding, woodworking & cooking. His favorite pastime was preparing meals while listening to classic country music and serving others. In his younger years his work history consisted of a salesman for Big Red, Coca-Cola, & Pepsi, and a transport driver for Celadon & Mrs Bairds bakery. In 2013 his lifelong dream to own and operate a BBQ restaurant became a reality with the love, support, & help from his family and countless friends. Ol Timer BBQ, located in Beverly Hills, was his passion, which produced wonderful everlasting memories and friendship. He cherished his sea of friends and family during his time of owning and operating Ol Timer BBQ. Thanks to all from the bottom of his enormous heart.

Bobby is survived by the love of his life for 37 years, Sally Horten; sons, Bobby Joe Horten, Jr and wife, Lindsay and Bryan Horten and wife, Kristine; daughter, Tristan Serrano and husband, Isaiah; grandchildren, Isaac Horten, Micaiah Serrano, Briles Horten, Bryer Horten and expecting grandson, Kyler Bobby Horten in January; parents, Keith & Marilyn Horten; brothers, Ronald Horten and wife Carol and Michael Horten; sister, Karen Muslow & husband, Dennis and Rose Maple and husband, Steve; biological father, Arlon Saur of New Braunfels; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Pallbearers will be Nick Salazar, Cameron Harold, Dustin Still, Craig Thomas, Mathew Muniz, Orlando Quiroz, Dustin Kahanek & Larry Felderhoff. Honorary Pallbearers are Timothy Priddy, Lupe Torres, John Bayer, Polo Gomez & Ricky Heeke.
