Allen Walter Arthur was born September 26, 1944 in Waco Texas. He passed away peacefully October 1, 2016 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Merriam, Kansas surrounded by his adoring family. He was a loving and attentive husband, father, and grandfather.

Allen was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served the people of the United States of America in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961-1966 in Echo Company 2nd Battalion 3rd Marine Regiment as a respected squad leader.

He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Sheila, a daughter Laura and her husband Mike Vance of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Allen’s stepdaughter, Shannon O’Brien, of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by three grandsons, Donald Green, Justin Vance and Michael Vance of North Richland Hills, Texas, and two sisters, Frances Scott and Catherine Fortune of Waco, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ida Hoffmann, and father, Rozello Arthur.

Allen embraced life with energy and curiosity. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, boating, anything to do with nature, and above all helping others.

Visitation, on Sunday, October 9th, 5pm-7pm, and a funeral service, on Monday, October 10th at 12pm, will be held in Allen’s hometown in Waco, Texas at Oakcrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd, Waco, Texas 76710. Burial with military honors will follow at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery, 6623 Interstate 35 South, Robinson, Texas.
