Obituary for Maria Villanueva

Maria Villanueva, 95, passed away, Sunday, June 26, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday July 1, at 9 am, at OakCrest Funeral Home, with Rev. Benjamin Magnaye as Celebrant, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, West, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday, June 30, 6 to 8 pm, Rosary will be recited at 7 pm at the funeral home.

Maria was born Jan. 22, 1921 in Whitney, Texas to Jesus and Santos (Longoria) Villanueva. She was a loving and caring daughter, sister and a wonderful aunt to all her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Trinity Villanueva, Janie V. Tovar, and Ophelia V. Lopez; and brother, Luciano Villanueva.

Maria is survived by her sister, Manuela (Nellie) Villanueva; nieces, Monica Nicholas and husband, Brian, and Martina Strauss and husband, Edward; nephews, Jesse Tovar and wife Irene, Randy Tovar and wife, Anna, Marcus Lopez and wife, Veronica, and Mike Lopez and wife Terrie.
