Sofia R. Muniz
August 12, 1929 – December 29, 2015

Sofia R. Muniz, 86, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at her home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be 10 am, Tuesday, Jan. 5 at St. Francis on the Brazos Catholic Church, 315 Jefferson Ave. with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 pm Monday, Jan. 4 with a rosary to be recited at 7 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Sofia was born August 12, 1929 in Bremond, Texas. For many years, she was an employee of Providence Hospital, from where she retired.

Sofia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Urbano Muniz, Sr.; son, Peter Robertson; grandson, Richard Holcomb, Jr.; brother, Domingo Rivera; and sister, Isabella Rivas.

She is survived by her children, Urbano Muniz, Jr. and wife, Lucy, Hilda Muniz, Janie Urive and husband, Gabriel, Ramona Holcomb, and Jesse Cervantez and wife, Nona; grandchildren, Ashley Rodriguez and Angela DeLeon, both of Waco, Ronnie Vargas, of Austin, Joe Anthony Muniz, Lisa Marie Muniz, Matthew Muniz, Anyssa Muniz, Gabriel Urive, Jr., Diana Salinas, and Gilbert Salinas, all of Waco, Patricia Holcomb, Robert Garcia, Melinda Garcia and Sammy Pineda, of Gallaway, Ohio, Danielle Robertson, Peter Robertson, Jr., Tyler Robertson, and Brandon Robertson, all of Ft. Collins, Colorado and J.C. Cervantez, Jr., Roe Cervantez, Angie Cervantez, Kim Mollete, Lisa Mollete , Charles Molette; sister, Gloria Garcia; brother, Mauricio Rivera, Sr.; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
