Obituary for Clayton Harvey Uran

Clayton Harvey Uran
May 31, 1917 - September 13, 2011

Ret. Lt. Colonel, Clayton Harvey Uran, 94, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 1624 Wooded Acres Drive, with Father John Wells officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Clayton was born May 31, 1917 in Princeton, Minnesota to George Uran and Clara Wold Uran. He was a veteran of World War II, serving his country as a First Lieutenant in field artillery. He landed on Utah Beach, France and fought throughout France, Belgium and Germany. His final commission was as a Lieutenant Colonel. Clayton then began a career in 1946 in land surveying and opened his own company in 1947 retiring in 1994. October 2002, Clayton received the prestigious Hugh L. George Award in recognition and appreciation of the outstanding retired surveyor of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors. He was a Master Mason of James H. Lockwood Lodge 1343 and was also a Noble of the Mystic Shrine for 50 years. Clayton enjoyed playing golf and pitch with his buddies.

Clayton was truly a remarkable man and touched the lives of many people. Being a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, he had the Lord in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Winnie Uran.

Clayton is survived by his wife, Maxine Uran; stepson, Davis Matteson and wife, Shirley; and several nieces and nephews.
