Stephen J. Zakrzewski
November 26, 1943 – September 13, 2014

Stephen J. Zakrzewski, 70, of Hewitt, formerly of Windsor and New Britain, Ct., passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Providence Hospice House. At his request, he was cremated, and a celebration of his life will be held later.

Steve was a Navy Vietnam Veteran who served on the USS Hancock, Ranger, and Enterprise from 1963-1967. He went to the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Oklahoma and received his A&P license. He joined the Army National Guard as a full time helicopter mechanic.

In 2003, he became a Quality Assurance Specialist for the Department of Defense. He was a member of the American Legion. For 35 years he was an active member of AA in Connecticut and Texas.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Frank Zakrzewski, and his father- and mother-in-law, Jack and Nora Rybczyk.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary Ann; son, Frank Zakrzewski and his wife Susan of Enfield, Conn.; daughter, Melissa Sanders and her husband, Ken of Hewitt; and his two wonderful grandchildren, Ashlyn and Evan.

The family thanks the Interim Home Health, Ridgecrest, and Providence Hospice for all their care and compassion.
